C minor pentatonic scale.

The chords are Cm-F-Cm-G-Cm-F-Ab-G-Cm.

In the future try to find the tonic, ie the home note. Then figure out whether it's in major or minor. This will already tell you a lot about the notes that the solo is likely going to use.

How to figure out chords? Listen to the bass. Most of the time the bass is going to play the root of the chord. Also, listen to the quality of the chord - is it major or minor?

Trying to noodle around the fretboard is not going to help. You need to know what notes you are looking for before trying to find them. So maybe try learning to sing the solo first. When you can sing the solo, you have it memorized and you don't even need to listen to the record any more. You have all the sounds memorized and know what sounds you are looking for. This is what ear training is about. You need to hear the note in your head. You want to be able to think in pitch.

The "everywhere I look, everything I see" part around the middle of the song, would that be the same chords, it sounds different to me?

What I'm playing atm is;

e -----------------11 13b15p11----------------------------

g -------10 12-----------------------------10p8-------10p8

I can hear there's a few more embellishments in there but can't work out the whole thing, can anyone help?

Here it is with code tags (use "#" above the reply window)

Just to confirm, that's solid C minor pentatonic, so far anyway.

Are you using a slowdowner? If not, I suggest you do - makes it a whole lot easier. There's nothing too difficult to hear in there, if you take it slow. (That's what I'd do if I was doing this for you, but why should I do that? )

That will help you work out the chords too. Don't worry about position, those notes can be played in two or 3 positions, just choose what feels comfortable.

This is the tab for the rest of roughly what I'm playing, can anyone correct it? I'm playing on an acoustic hence avoiding the 15th fret etc.
