Why?

They are so impractical for everyday wear at work

I'd hate to have to wear a suit every day

Ties are even worse they have literally no useful functionality

Because society has programmed you to associate the lounge suit with professionalism.

I'd like to. Beats labcoats, hairnets and safety glasses any day.

Plus it's a sleek look and I totally dig it. Ties are a plus. As long as they put it on right. Like, I don't want to see the tie wrapped around your neck dude, tuck it in under your collar like you're SUPPOSED to do.

Just a note, this may have been engraved in me after 4 years of wearing a uniform every Tuesday in ROTC in high school.

IT's a massive confidence booster, to wear a well cut suit.

Ties are kinda shit though, but they can really tie together the whole ensemble.

Yeah but if you all wore suits you could be doing GREAT

In all seriousness though, most places I've been it wasnt compulsory to wear a suit every day. Just on occasions that required it. Mostly it was a smart shirt and trousers.

Why do we wear clothes?

They're so impractical for everyday wear at work.

I'd hate to have to wear clothes everyday.

Underwear is even worse, it has no useful functionality.

Smart shirt and trousers are good. A smart shirt and trousers will also 100% of the time look better than a badly fitting suit, and most peoples suits don't fit great.

Well this is stupid digman we wear clothes for warmth and protection from the elements and underwear prevents nasty chafing

It doesn't but like it just gets in the way if you're doing something manual at all and you have to faff about with tucking it in and then by that point why wear it

Why would you wear a suit if you were doing manual work?

IMO, you'd wear one for work if you could expect to deal - in person - with clients external to your company(or maybe division if you're in a really big company), or senior management.

Functionally, a tie is pointless. It has it's roots in medieval clothing to allow Lords to identify their knights on the battlefield. In a modern sense though, it has no real point.

Aesthetically though, a good tie makes a good suit look a million bucks. It's like, why do girls shave off their eyebrows and paint them back on? It's pointless, but it's what we do to look good (But painted on eyebrows are ew and this is a shit simile)

I mean it's cool if you like it. I don't.

I'd like it better if I didn't have to button up the lab coat and the hairnet didn't mess with my (gorgeous) hair.
