So, on wednsday im finaly ordering a new 7 string. I narrowed it down to these two guitars:

http://www.thomann.de/intl/jackson_slathxsdq_3_7_tr.htm

and

http://www.thomann.de/intl/ibanez_rgaix7fm_tgf_iron_label.htm

My budget is 900€. I want a hardtail guitar, because i hate floyds, but other than that i dont have much preference. I never played a jackson before, but with Blackouts and a longer scale length is a better choice. Than again, the Ibanez looks amazing, and all the iron labels that i played up till now were great guitars.

How much would the aditional scale length affect the string tension? Would the normal 25.5" on the ibanez be to short to play in dropG for example? Im not planing on doing much downtuning except drop A, but its also nice to have an option. Oh yeah, and i cant play this guitars in person, because no store in my country stocks them.

I was also briefly considering the chapman ML-7 S, but i just cant get over how bad it looks. I also dont wanna go with an LTD, because i already have an ec401, and dont want another one like that with just another string.

I have played that Ibanez and it is great, there is also the RGD Iron Label with the 26.5 inch scale, so you have everything you need with that one.

Yeah, but that finish is just.... ugh. I really cant bring myself to buy a guitar that i dont like visually, especially for this kind of money :/

I am also biased and say ibanez .

I own four ibanez prestiges and the are awesome. I have owned three mij Jacksons (DKMG DKMGT and a DXMG(?) . They are both very nice. I dare say personal taste.

Nice one mate, hope you like it!

To be honest, with Ibanez and Jackson you can't really go wrong at that price point, they are both great guitar brands.

Some prefer Ibanez, some Jackson.

I'm an Ibanez guy.
