Mystical electrical filaments of swirling sounds in stardust infinite.

My first attempt at mixing this type of synth. I've been on a Static-X binge for a while now and wanted to put some synth to the test. I actually enjoyed making this song a lot, looking for the different sounds to put together and such.

Anyway it is epic and futuristic sounding I hope, don't know how else to describe it. No specifics of what I'm looking for, just if the overall mix is ok.

How did you make this song I'm curious? I'm not a big fan of electronic music or cats with pickles haha..i dug this track though different from what ive heard you produce in the past. there is a lot of good drum work throughout with a lot of bad ass melodies. personally I don't care much for the word epic to be thrown around I'm not sure if you were implying this song to be epic or if its a word used with this specific genre. overall sky seems to be the limit for what you can create and you seem to pull this specific sound off quite well. nice work with the mix I thought everything was just fine everything sat well where it needed to be. c4c?

Hey man yea I don't usually do this kind of music either but was curious to see if I could come up with something. The cat picture is to know it's not really serious The epic term I mainly use from the days when me and my other friend would write songs as a band and we would always say "man that sounded epic as shit" so I just adopted the epic word to describe anything that sounds cool... or... I dunno encompassing, big, ya know... but yea maybe I'll find a different word, you're not the first person to tell me what I do is not epic.

The majority of it I used a VST called Nexus. Just combed through the different soundbanks, adjusted as necessary, and that was it basically. I find this way of making music more pleasant than grueling hours on guitar trying to get it perfect.

But for the gritty details I write everything in guitar pro 6 first... just like as if it were a metal band with drums, bass, etc. I export all that out into midi format and put it in Reaper and just apply the VSTs. A little fine tuning is needed but that's it basically.

the melody synths are really present, it can kind of bury the bass and i'm listening pretty loud on a pair of krk rp8s. maybe they need a bit of bass cut to bring out the drums and bass line a little more clearly? cause the kicks are a little murky but i'm not sure if that's the effect you were going for. the song is a little too chilled out for me, i kinda wish there was more tension in the arpeggiated synth starting at 2:13, like a slow filter sweep building up to a drop but that might be too cliche ahaha. good work otherwise!

apothegm,
I almost never do this: review a song that has an older latest reply than my latest reply by someone else. Your tune sounds pretty cool. I think it would be most effective if it had a video to go with it (not that I ever make music videos). Putting it another way, the song would be good with a video, or a TV show, or a movie. My only real criticism is that it sometimes feels a bit repetitive (which happens in most synth instrumentals for me even though I'm into synths). My wife likes to say, "Practice makes pickles", for some strange reason. Please review my music at this link:
