So, I've been playing on and off for years and have really only dabbled in free tablature and chords of my favorite songs, but never really learning any real technique.

I want to get a little more serious and actually put the time in but it seems most of the methods out there assume little to know familiarity with music notation and theory. That's not a problem for me. I've earned a PHD in music theory and don't want to buy a method, half of which will be teaching me how to read music and build chords.

So, my question, in essence, is this: Are there any methods out there that start with the basics of guitar playing but without all of the rudimentary theory and other musical basics.
