Question for the gearheads, which one is the better for distortion. The 900 im looking at is 2100 SLX head, not sure what cabinet yet, and the DSL il prob shove a greenback into, Alice in Chains soundish is what I am going for, but I do have a Bogner Ecstacy pedal. The DSL is known for the versatility but the 900 is a one trick pony but does said one trick extremely well.

I think you have already sorted out the main points of the amps. So it comes down to which you prefer. The SLX amps are great amps. Honestly if you are after an amp head and want versatility then go for the JCM 2000 DSL.

Itl just be for home use, so the 2000 head is, way overpriced for what i was eyeing. The slx i saw was 500 pounds, and thats not bad. Prob is the jcm is only gain but i rarely play clean. Cabinet is a whole nother story.

Grab the SL-X. If you need a clean tone use the volume on your guitar to clean things up.

the JCM 2000 DSL head shouldn't run you too much more than a DSL40C. They are both JCM2000 DSL amps.
