i want to get a MXR blue box, but i don't like that it is so noisy and i don't think that it seems extremely well made. is there a more boutique version available? or mods that i can do that would help?

i am comfortable modding pedals at this point in time so hit me with some schems.

thanks, yes i am bored at 5am and have a lot of questions (like always).

I got an MXR Sub Machine a month or two ago that sounds very tasty, but it may well bother you in the same ways as the Blue Box. It's a Foxx Tone Machine-style octave fuzz with the addition of a sub octave (1 octave down rather than the Blue Box's sometimes-excessive 2) you can dial in.

Not at all sure if that's of interest, but options are options.
