what is my guardian frog on top of?

1993 Rivera Knucklehead K-100.

I got it off of reverb for $707 shipped. and... best $707 i have spent for a LONG time.

It is a EL34 powered two channel 100 watt piece of cojones.

It has two channels, the first is a dirty-er and the other is clean-er. The best feature, is the dual footswitchable boosts. one for each channel. press the button -> welcome to hell.

they are independent of each other and the clean channel goes from orgasmically sparkling cleans to a little more dirty clean on the lower gain settings ('volume' in this case), and from 'pushed' to 'pissed' off on higher settings.

the other channel has a marshall-esque gain at high settings, the boost takes it to over the top marshallish gain. i am using this and boosting and getting one hell of a good doom/stoner to solid hard rock tone.

i am still fucking with the EQ. it does quite a bit actually. its a nice and middy amp though, which is something that i really like.

in short, AMAZING cleans, and a sweet OD. the only down side is that it doesn't do well quiet on the higher gain channel. it needs to get relatively loud to be pushed (no not to poweramp distortion, we all know how that works), but just to get a decent amount of gain.

It isn't real high gain, the growl is similar to a classic Marshall crunch if you push it.

The cleans are FANTASTIC though. I actually prefer them to my 1968 bassman and my music man hd130. So far anyways.

As far as space goes, I have one room in my house full, and the main room and back room FULL of my studio (technically a house). I am thinning out my guitars a little bit, I may be dumping one or two of my lower end amps.

Nope, not yet.... will need a few weeks to put myself together financially, after buying that VHT.... And guess what: I am really crazy and I am thinking about not the "ordinary" SEDs, but the TubeAmpDoctor special selection version, out of SED´s original production.... about 10% more expensive.... God, I need to see my shrink, again....

These are great. Really love those. The k7 and the ktre improve that lead channel significantly but if you don't need a metal tone it's not a big deal.

thanks! i don't really need a metal tone, i have other amps for that.

the cleans amaze me every time i turn it on. i have come to like the OD quite a bit too, but i am not using for anything really heavy.

thanks! yeah they definitely are underrated, they don't really get much press as most of the other big companies do. i guess that is good for me... lol.

for $707 i have never heard that good of cleans.

turning it up a bit today was a lot of fun, if i push it with a timmy and if i turn the gain boos t on the amp, it actually has pretty nice overdrive, however it does have to get quite loud. a nice marshally crunch, maybe slash level of OD? can do a little bit of the AC/DCish stuff as well.

@311 - thanks man!
