Even though I almost want to refuse it on principle - I mean, man alive, how intrusive and desperate are those ads, all the time(?) I am wondering if I'm missing out. Is tab pro really that great? Aren't most tabs already on the site? Are these "special" tabs? And besides the animated graphics, what else is added?

I know it's free trial, but I'm hesitant to have to deal with - what I expect - will be a very intrusive campaign to make me stay if I leave... I'm gussing this is one of those weird memberships that offer you special discounts when you leave and other tactics.

Just pay for it and u have it, no bullshit. Plus u might find the odd song that wasn't in the text tab or gtr pro

To clear it up, all tab pro content is straight copies of guitar pro/power tabs already on the site and the fact that every tab pro tab is 5 stars is deceptive marketing and a pure lie. UG has used sketchy marketing for years. You're not missing out on anything if you already have guitar pro capable software. If you've never used a multi track digital tab with audio, you're definitely missing out yes but then your choice is free tab editors that can play the files, supporting the original format creator. Or tab pro.

I have Tab Pro (free for being a contributor) and honestly, the files, as stated above, are just rips of .gpx and power tab files.

Guitar Pro reigns supreme in this field due to its inclusion of RSE.

I hate when people say stuff like that, like everybody knows what or who a RSE is...
Is it Recording Sound Engineering? Or Record Sales Endeavour? No, wait, Really Special Education...?

And yet all I had to do was type "Guitar pro RSE" into Google and it brought me here and told me that it's "Realistic Sound Engine".

I hate when people act like they don't have access to the internet when responding to a post.

Oh snap!
Well played, sir. Well played! I foresee we'll become great friends. Does that work with all tabs on here then?

It is looking very strongly as if the people who run UG are pushing towards a far higher standard of the tabs and support for musicians. They've been working on the tabs approval process and are consulting tabbers on this through the forums. Properly edited tabs would be great but who'd pay for 300,000 edits! They've never been good at commercialising UG and it is now much too big and complex to run on no money. They've got to raise the cash somehow.

I'd look at Tab Pro as a contribution to the cause. I'm another who gets it free because I contribute tabs, so your choice is to contribute your time and effort via tabs or to pay for the extras. It's OK and at least you can hear the tabs so you know how accurate they are, it does speed up learning new songs even if the sounds aren't very realistic.

UG is still more of an enthusiasts site than a commercial one IMO. I hope the guys at the top are making a living out of it but I don't suppose they are getting rich.

Just as I had decided to go for it, I come across this little message on a forum site:

"Before you subscribe to any products from Tab-Pro, ultimate-guitar.com, etc understand that they will be make it near impossible for you to cancel your subscription. Forget complaining to PayPal, they aren't interested. Even when you cancel in Paypal ultimate-guitar will keep sending you annoying emails. And there is no phone, contact for support for their products. Their forums are moderated in a way that they delete all negative comments or questions about canceling."

Is this true?
