Im an intermediate player and can play quite a few songs.
Genres im looking into are blues, rock and hard rock/metal.
Some songs i've had in mind are Sweet Child, an AC/DC Song, Lenny by SRV
Any other songs around this area?

Consider a mashup. Two songs that you wouldn't expect to necessarily go together, but that catch you by surprise when they actually work that way. This gets your audience's attention and allows you to showcase more than one style.

BTW, this band sounds exactly like this live. The singer is also the voice of Wacko and Ironhide (Transformers)...

I think Sweet Child or anything AC/DC would be too predictable. If you do that, everyone's heard it before, and probably even heard talent show renditions of it before. Stuff like Lenny (or Riviera Paradise? I came very close to doing a medley of those two when I finished secondary school but I had an exam the same day so I decided I only needed one thing to stress myself out with ) is great because it's something people probably haven't heard before, it's chilled out enough for just about everyone with enough technique to impress the guitar kids and, being instrumental, it's interesting to listen to without you having to find someone to perform with (Clearly covering AC/DC or GNR on your own would not be impressive and you would have very little room to mess up).

The big question is can you sing?

Because even if you play something note for note, if your singing voice sounds like a donkey raping a camel, overall it'll be bad.

If you're going to sing as well as play, pick the song based on what suits your range.

Many AC/DC and Guns 'N Roses songs have been butchered by talent show kids. However, if you can do it well and you're reasonably confident your audience hasn't heard the song to death before, then go for it!

Go with something simple. How's your Elvis impersonation? "Can't Help Falling in Love" is ****** easy to play on the guitar, sounds impressive to non-guitar playing cretins, and gives you the chance to legitimately ham it up as Elvis.

Get a white sequined outfit too.

you gotta make eye contact with a qt when you sing the "i wanna lick you too much baby"s

either shes into it or you get a restraining order against you

either way, you'll be the most memorable act of the talent show
