i have a fulltone clyde at the moment, and i am in the need of a second wah. i don't want to spend much over $100 used. i am not looking at anything dunlop. i would love to get a RMC wizard wah, but i don't want to spend that much...

... so it is going to be morely i think.

what morely should i be looking into? i don't know what the differences are and i would like optical, but i don't care if the switch is on the pedal or not. i feel slightly drawn to the vai models, but to be fair i haven't tried any others.

thanks, trashed.

Cathbard will doubtless see this and recommend a Morely optical of some type. Go with that if you optical is what you want.

Alas, the only Wahs I'm familiar with are all at $20-100 over your budget.

I love my Morley Maverick. It will fit on a board and sounds like a Bad Horsey. Switchless too.

what would be the lower end overbudget? $20 isn't a big deal, $50 and i would probably get somthing else. unless it would be a clyde deluxe or a RMC.

for Morley I'd recommend either the Classic or the Power wha. good basic wha's . they do take a bit of getting used to as the on off switch has to be hit before the wha works. great when you want to park it or want the sound to start somewhere other than full treble.

what are the differences (in application) to the maverick?

the power wah look huge though, which is a bit of a turnoff.

I've got a power wah (PWA) and a Maverick. The PWA is good if you want to park it but the switchless system is very good, great for quick stabs mid phrase. The PWA is a fucking tank, it's just so big.
The Bad Horsie is more tweakable but I've felt no need to tweak the Maverick tbh. Buy that Maverick.

I'm not a wah guy, so this is what I know:

https://reverb.com/item/477697-plutoneium-chi-wah-wah-v-2

https://reverb.com/item/638941-plutoneium-chiwahwah-v2-for-guitar-black

https://reverb.com/item/1985974-t-rex-gull-wah-2011-light-gold

https://reverb.com/item/1913842-t-rex-gull-wah-electric-guitar-effects-fx-pedal-trex-2-scratch-dent

The Chi Wah Wah's main selling points are that it is ultra compact and it is optical. It is also designed to be hinged in the front: IOW, its treadle is less like a traditional wah, and more like the treadles you'd find on something like a Boss RE-20 or RT-20. That means you can work it with the tip of your toe while your heel is on the floor.

FYI, if you go looking, the T-Rex Shafter is the production model that followed the Gull. It's essentially the same pedal, but not as pretty.

yeah the original style Morley's are huge and take up more room than your average wha for sure I haven't tried a maverick yet so I can't really comment on that.

From a random turn of events i ended up with a EHX qtron. I haven't been able to try it though as I don't have a 24v center positive adapter. I have an adapter coming in on Thursday, thanks free shipping and MF.

The qtron is sweet. I have one that I use for bass. The qtron+, actually, which has its own fx loop. I put a bass big muff in the qtron loop, and it makes such an amazing fat synth bass tone.

Just got the JP Wah and it is great, I put it beside my Big Bad Wah and Bad Horsie, ok I'm a gear slut, I get it, but that's what happens when you have real bad GAS and places like sweetwater have payment plans. anyway, The Bad Horsie is good, but it is spring loaded to the Off position which means that if you are not looking for the "cocked" wah thing is ok, but it can't do the cocked wah if that is what you are looking for. Big Bad wah is cool, I still haven't mastered all the functions on it. The JP wah is probably the best sounding one I've got right out of the box, I was instantly impressed, probably will never tweak the controls on the inside of it, I'd hate to mess it up. Good luck with your purchase.
