It's fathers day in the US so lets jam to some dad rock.

dad rock

The standard set of albums from the 60s and 70s that every boomer likes. Boomers try to get younguns to listen to dad rock by loading up "best albums ever" lists with them. Dad rockers have no desire to listen to recent music and are stuck in the past.

Do you listen to dad rock often?

I wonder if at some point that technical death metal will become dad rock.

scary.

But also no, cuz I find dad rock emotionally, energetically and intellectually repressive.

One friend of mine's parents gave birth to her when they were 13/14 (she's 20). She considers bands like Tool and Staind "dad rock", it's really weird.

Let's just all agree that "Abracadabra" by the Steve Miller Band is a piece of shit and leave it at that.

If more than 4 people on this site are aware of its existence then it's officially dad stuff by now.

Society at large rejects stuff that isnt dad, no matter how much people wanna think their library is edgy.

Rock music began in 1955 with Chuck Berry and ended in 1980 with the death of Bon Scott (AC/DC). Everything since then has been one load of steer manure after another.
"Your sound is in your hands as much as anything. It's the way you pick, and the way you hold the guitar, more than it is the amp or the guitar you use." -- Stevie Ray Vaughan

"Anybody can play. The note is only 20 percent. The attitude of the motherfucker who plays it is 80 percent." -- Miles Davis

AC/DC is social justice rock not dad rock.
Because it unites all white people.
Rednecks and hipsters and dads and smug art critics all like AC/DC. Even Europeans like it.
