Welcome to the fifth installment of the bass forum plan thread! For those of you who are new, this is the bass forum's general chat thread. For those of you who are wondering what the hell happened to the old thread, this new version is in honor of the 100 pages V4 made it to and in resolution to its mysterious and unexplained disappearance from the top of the forum.

As per usual, please follow the forum rules that are stickied at the top of the forum.

Just a note: if the old forum plan thread is visible to you stickied at the top of the forum, please let me know.

EDIT: A belated happy 4th to you all! Hopefully everyone still has all 10 fingers.

Left my Ibanez propped up next to my amp overnight. This was a mistake. It seems to be mostly okay (a few scratches) but this is a gentle reminder to use stands or put it in a case!

My Jazz has taken so many falls in the last months it's not funny. The nitro really isn't digging it.
Also the link back to the old thread doesn't work bro.

What's this IQ thing?
Basses:
Fender Precision Bass
Fender Jazz Bass
1967 Fender Coronado Bass II
Warwick Star Bass
Squier Precision Bass TB

Aww damnit, busted link removed.

The IQ thing is a rating system where one acquires points based on contribution and such. So you get points for posting tabs, correcting tabs, posting comments, getting upvotes, getting certain amounts of thread replies and views, etc. Full explanation: https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/article/blog/ug-iq

My basses haven't even seen the light of day in weeks. It's damn inconvenient but I have to keep them in cases under a mountain of crap in the closet.

My fender fell over yesterday and now the volume output is extremely low. Instead of trying to fix the preamp I think I'm just going to convert it to passive and put new pots in it.

Same for me I haven't got the time for anything music related since I got a new job.
Damn it! Disable can't use disable to disable Disable's disable because disable's disable has already been disabled by Disable's disable!

Whatcha doing now?

It looks like our old threads have reappeared! So the rant thread is back, and since this is already rolling here the old forum plan thread will be off to the "farm."

Moved in with the gf, new job pays more but the commuting time and cost means I have neither the time, money or energy to do anything but write; I still can't do lyrics for shit.

I feel I need to tell the world that it has been 2 years since I last bought a bass, 1 year since I bought any pedals and 6 since I last bought an amp. Considering me rehabilitated.

I should by a bass to celebrate.
#13
You should buy two. Two years, two basses, that's how it works right?

Tomorrow I'm jumping face first into the hell hole and starting applications to go back to school. So I'm not going to be buying new basses for a long ass time.

First off apologies for not being on line much lately. Without going into too much detail, I had a personal family issue that now seems to be settling down.

I'm good on basses for the time being, but I am going to probably re-do my pedal board and rethink what I need and will use vs bright shiny objects. I got paid nicely for a gig so that cash will go into some new ink and a new pedal or two. The new ink comes on Friday

Whatcha getting?

I haven't gotten anything new since February and I don't think I'll be able to get anything new soon (barring the beer boot filler I still gotta get).

I'm pretty sure I'm 70% paper. As in paperwork. As in every time I move more paperwork comes flooding out of some orifice in my body.

Alright folks. Thought I'd drop in as I've just picked up my bass for the first time in too many months.

To contribute to the above. I'm about 70% bug fixing at the moment and about 30% bug making. The joys of coding.

Edit: Nice ink Tam, when did you get that done?

^about 3 weeks ago. I got paid nicely for a gig

And having worked as a system administrator for several years, debugging code can be frustrating like playing whack a mole with 1s and 0s. Then you hand it over to a user who does something no one would ever anticipate and you start all over again

Dan! Long time no see!

I haven't been on as much as I'd like lately. How's everyone doing?

Came across a nice looking 5 string Mexican Jazz on ebay, with a hard case for £360. But sadly the guy has only 45 feedbacks and his rating currently stands at 57.1%. So I'm kind of vaguely annoyed. And overheated. But on the plus side, I start a new, better job soon and only have one (four day) week left at my terrible old job.

Good luck with the interview.

Bassists don't hover on the forum day and night like guitarists. We've got lives to lead, music to play and whiskey to drink.

I'd rather go at my hands with a hacksaw than play lead guitar, and I'm only slightly exaggerating.

I'm not bad. Got an interview on Wednesday in LAAAAAAHNDAN for a product demonstrator/training specialist for a loudspeaker company. Job's based in Hong Kong, covering the South Asian Pacific area.

Und du?

Best of luck with the interview!

I've been remodeling the house and generally working ALOT. I'm hoping to play a bit more bass as soon as half my house doesn't look like we're moving.
#27
Good luck on the interview. Does that mean you'd be relocating if all goes well?

I have to send a few emails to confirm my paperwork is all in good order, but I may have just gotten accepted to ASU. Which means moving to Phoenix in December. Someones going to have to peel me off the pavement.

Yeah, I would think it'd be a pretty accommodating city adjustment-wise. Would you have to buy a seat on the plane for your 'Vette?

I'm shooting for a BS in the earth and space exploration program. Specifically focused on astrobiology and biogeosciences.

He needs a new bass now. And he'll need a new bass then. He is King Jon of the new basses.

Long may he reign.

Especially not with a high C.

But seriously, any music money I (don't) have right now needs to go towards less fun things such as amp stacks and a decent compressor.
