Recording a thrash album but want to find good tone for thrash. What bedroom sized amp best resembles, maybe a JCM800 for under 500?

Either a used dsl40c or DSL 401; might come out to a bit more than $500 with tax/ship. Might need a boost to tighten things up, though the level of gain shouldn't be a problem (at least on the DSL40C).
Remember, watts/power does not equal tone so don't rule out something at 50W or more just because of the wattage. I also assume you're looking at combos.

I feel those amps would do the trick, but any particular reason you're only looking at Marshall?
Charvel So-Cal (SH6TB/N, killswitch), Jackson RR5FR (TB6/Jazz, Drop C). Joyo pxl pro.
Loop1=Crybaby from hell, Boss PS-5, Seymour Duncan 805 or Green Rhino, EQD Hoof or Earthbound Audio Super Collider. Loop 1 into ISP Decimator II.
Loop 2 (FX loop)-Line6 M9, TC Spark Mini. Loop 2 into mxr 10band. All into a Peavey Triple XXX 212, Ibanez IL15.

I think he is wanting Marshall-like tone, not necessarily branded Marshall amps.

I had a friend with a Blackstar HT-5 and a 1x12 cab. I really liked that amp, it sounded great. a Marshall JC900 1x12 Combo can be found for $500 with some luck. I've played one of them, and they are just, just great. Never seen a JCM 800 1x12 in the wild. I played a 2x12 once at Atomic Music in Beltsville MD, it was listed at $1200, so that's out.....

The usual suspects I throw out for bedroom amps that have some gain are the Dark Terror, an older Tiny Terror, (should get the job done nicely at 7 watts) or hit a vintage shop for a Vox Nighttrain. They should all be available used at the 500-600 range - I know its a bit more than you asked, but these will all do what you ask and more.
1981 Gibson Les Paul Custom (Black Beauty)
1980 Marshall JMP 2204

I have tge Orange TT, Laney AOR head and Mesa Mini Recto, all work great.
Budget, I'd say ADA MP-1 through a power amp, maybe a Peavey Classic 50/50, both used. Maybe even a JCM900 or 2000 head on lower settings.
The new Laney IRT is good too.
You don't necessarily have to have low wattage head, you can use iso cabs.
Another option would be reamping service either at local studio or online.

I'm going to throw out the Peavey 6505MH (Green Channel, Crunch On if it's anything like it's siblings) or a Laney IronHeart Studio.

Still don't know what volume levels you want but both of these plug directly into a PC via USB for recording.
