I have been playing for 3 years now but I keep getting pain in my tendon of my fret hand index finger. I have already been to the doctor, he gave me something for it couple of months ago but it is still here.

This is the area where it hurts. The tendon is also swollen in this area.

This is so frustrating because I love the guitar but I am losing all motivation and hope to learn because of this pain and no one seems to know what it is.

Do any of you have an idea?

Maybe you're fretting do hard.

Do you have it while standing and playing or while sitting?

I really want to help you mate.

I try to push just hard enough to make a clear note but I might be pressing hard while playing power chords. I just wonder if this is ever going to go away.

Again, this is a discussion you need to be having with a doctor, you're not going to solve anything on a guitar forum. Even if there was a doctor posting here, his advice would be to go and see a doctor in person.

Even the doctor doesn't know what the problem is. He said my hand is fine but my tendon is still swollen and hurts sometimes after months.

do you seriously think you're going to get a better answer here? You have a medical issue, you need to speak to a medical professional to sort the problem out.

As steven seagull says, get professional medical advice, from a hand specialist. Do not leave it ... you can just damage yourself more. But it is very likely that whatever you are doing to cause the pain can be fixed, so I wouldn't worry too much ...and while that repair is happening, study other aspects of music. That's what I did. Yes, it sucks while it's happening, but great things can come from it. Remember, mechanical technique is only a small part of making music!
