Best music to listen to while you're traveling/driving/going on a road trip/etc.

We've established Lana Del Rey is good driving music. What else?

Everything I like.

For real, I don't care what band or genre. As long as it's something I really like, it's good enough to enjoy the driving.

Pre much this

I do however, enjoy cranking this track
Come back if you want to
And remember who you are
‘Cause there's nothing here for you my dear
And everything must pass

said it here before but something about this album just reeks of long ass morning drives

I like listening to different songs on a big mixtape that provides a situation for everything. For instance, There's No Other Way by Blur for heavy traffic, Rain by Candlebox for when it's raining, Pink by Aerosmith when I'm blazing down a country road way faster than I should be driving.

Or sometimes I just throw on Blood Sugar Sex Magik or the first Boston album. Whatever you want man.

I used to listen to "anything" in the car but personally it's not all equal. For example, classical is not optimal for driving at all...the dynamic changes can be really drastic and goes from inaudible one minute to way too loud the next.

Lana Del Rey has a very tailored cinematic sound...evokes the open road, long stretches of land, etc.

...modes and scales are still useless.

If you are on a long road trip with me and you don't want to listen to it, i'll strap your ass to the roof or make you walk.

Stevie Wonder's Innervisions

Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.'

You'll get the chance to put the knife in.'

The Blackbird album by Fat Freddy's Drop kept me going while I did a 2 week road trip in Australia. So did Alt-J and Bonobo Animal Magic.

Bat out of Hell (album) is top tier road trip music. My missus and I tend to put the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack on too.

Whenever I drive up north by myself I like to put on all six White Stripes albums on in a row. Maybe a bit of RHCP and Nirvana too.

Basically loud and sing-alongable is my rule of thumb.
My old signature was too long. Have a daisy.

Have another drink and drive yourself home I hope there's ice on all the roads and you can think of me when you forget your seatbelt and again when your head goes through the windshield.

Are you Simon Armitage?

I'd been tired, under
the weather, but the ansaphone kept screaming:
One more sick-note, mister, and you're finished. Fired.
I thumbed a lift to where the car was parked.
A Vauxhall Astra. It was hired.

I picked him up in Leeds.
He was following the sun from west to east
with just a toothbrush and the good earth for a bed. The truth,
he said, was blowin' in the wind,
or round the next bend.
I let him have it
on the top road out of Harrogate - once
with the head, then six times with the krooklok
in the face - and didn't even swerve.
I dropped it into third

and leant across
to let him out, and saw him in the mirror
bouncing off the kerb, then disappearing down the verge.
We were the same age, give or take a week.
He'd said he liked the breeze

to run its fingers
through his hair. It was twelve noon.
The outlook for the day was moderate to fair.
Stitch that, I remember thinking,
you can walk from there.
