The ESP M1 is pretty much everything I want in a guitar: the style, no Floyd, active emg, neck thru, etc. The only thing I don't like is that there's only 1 pickup. Is there a guitar similar to this, but has 2 pickups?

I'm not gonna buy the Jeff Ling signature guitar either, that shit is too much money lol; I wanna keep it around 1500

An ESP Horizon if you want ESP. Schecter KM6 MKII might be worth looking into as well. I'm sure Kiesel/Carvin has something as well, but I don't have experience with ordering from them.

I don't think there are any horizons with emgs and without a Floyd though. And I'll check out that schecter

There is a Horizon with EMGs and no floyd. Certain Horizon NT-II guitars come with EMG but they're a little over your 1500$ unless you're willing to buy used.

An ESP M-II. Done. Hardtail ones aren't common but aren't unheard of.

Failing that, an RG652FX with new pickups is what you want.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.
