Hello,

I'm looking for an axe thats a good step up from my 350mpz.

Currently looking at an 's' series SIR70FD, or RGIT20FE, both between £250 - 350, preowned.

Are they good options? Both seem to have better pickups than the INF's on my mpz.

Any advice much appreciated.

DiMarzio or EMG IMO are both an upgrade from the Ibanez INF, each of these guitars are nice for that price depending on their condition, I personally don't like the small bodies of the S series and would prefer the RG neither of these choices have a tremolo so if you don't require a tremolo that will not be an issue.

Next you need to consider do you want active or passive pickups and do you use/can you live without the single pickup in the middle position?

It will be a matter of preference if the tremolo is not a concern and you like the passive HSH then the S series will be close to what your used to, If you want to try actives the RG will be good, personally I would go for the RG I think it looks great.

What type/genres of music do you play? What is your amp/effects set up?

if you want a good step up you probably want to be looking at a prestige
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

Thanks for the replies.

Read quite a few people change the v pickups on the prestige, are they not very good?

Depends on which Prestige. The 1000 series come with the V7/V8 humbuckers and many people replace them. Higher end models come with real dimarzios.

^^ yeah pretty much. the v7s and 8s aren't exactly awful, but they're pretty much mediocre at best.
