Mustard is my go to. Occassionally, I do fancy some relish.

People that put ketchup on hotdogs should be euthanized.
There's no such thing; there never was. Where I am going you cannot follow me now.

Mustard is only half correct. You forgot cheese and chili. I won't ding a non-American for not knowing proper Hot Dog Etiquette.

There is something terribly wrong with your tastebuds.

Relax, not at the same time.

All of the above +7. 12 is the maximum toppings a hd will hold but its dangerous.

A mustard dog is the quintessential hot dog, anything else is sacrilege or is a chili dog, which is an entirely seperate matter.

Spicy brown mustard and relish. If there's chili on it, then replace the relish with onions.

yah

standard dog gets spicy brown relish and onions

chili dog w cheese and onion

I change it up from time to time and sometimes depends on the condiments at hand. I use a combination of tomato sauce, mustard, onions (cooked, I'm not a savage), cheese, hot sauce and sour cream.

for a traditional dog - chopped onions, relish, mustard
for a chili dog - chili, cheese, bacon bits

also hot dogs are worst sausage, whatever you put on them is to disguise the relative tastelessness imo

What? Never had a Hebrew National? Nathan's Famous?

Mustard, sauerkraut and those crispy dried onions
O.K.

Yeah, the sausages that they use in hotdogs are absolutely vile, in terms of both taste and texture. Even the "sausages" that they serve in English Fish and Chip shops are superior and that's saying something.

I don't know those brands (I'm not American). But I almost never eat hot dogs except when at the cinema and I haven't eaten anything yet, and I eat their crappy dogs, so yeah that's probably part of it. I rarely actively choose a hot dog.

But I would still maintain that hot dog is the worst type of sausage even if there are some that are really good -- it's just that other sausages are overall better.

Ketchup is a must. Onions and cheese if they are available.
I have nothing important to say
#32
Spicy brown mustard is really all I normally put on it

I do like having a hotdog with a crumbled up boiled egg on top and some chili sauce though if I feel like spending more than like 5 minutes making it

I think another dimension to this question is; grilled or boiled hot dogs?

I personally prefer grilling them

Both are good and I actually change my answer from above since I've now thought about if for more then 3 seconds

My favorite hotdog would probably be like a legit sausage, grilled and placed on a toasted bun with some homemade salsa verde as the topping

For me, a nice grilled sausage with some coleslaw, mustard and fried onions, and maybe a dab of grated cheese, is top notch stuff.

All of those

These are my two favorites from a local hot dog place

Cowboy
House-made beef & cheddar sausage, TRH BBQ sauce, onions, slice of bacon, BBQ Baked Beans, nacho cheese sauce, topped with jalapenos (not available to-go).

Banh Mi
House-made Vietnamese-style sausage, pickled shredded carrots, cilantro, fresh jalapenos, & sriracha mayo.
My God, it's full of stars!

Aside from the fried onions that sounds pretty good

and I really probably eat like 2 hotdogs a year maybe so this wasn't really a question I was prepared for that well.
I should go to more social event type things then I might get more chances to eat some.
