Hey there, I just got my first tube amp, it's a Marshall dsl100h and a mx412a cab. Thoughts about this combo? For the cab it either this one (new) or a medium condition one on craigslist. I only play at home with my bro (drummer).
1. I was also curious about what would happen if I put say a mic through the amp, or an mp3 player?
2. What is bad about turning the amp on not in standby?
3. How does would the impedance work if I added another cab? Mine is 16ohms, so would I use two 8 ohms as stereo? Could I use two four ohms in the 8 ohm jack?

Thanks.

1. It will sound shit
2. Nothing really. Turning it on while in standby limits inrush current. It is kinder to the power transformer but shouldn't hurt it if you don't.
3. Speakers run in parallel follow the following formula:

So two 16 ohm cabs make 8 ohms. Two four ohm cabs would make 2 ohms.

I see, thanks. What do you think is a better cab, a new mx412 or a beat up 1960 (let's say lead)?
