Whispering is annoying and so is that shiver you get from it
I have nothing important to say

You guys are lame.

None of you experience that feel when you open a beer can, and slowly pour it into a glass? mmm

On the come up we were listening to Grateful Dead and the music started passing through my bowel and out my arsehole as this violet stream of light. I shat music. It was beautiful.

Imagine whispering on camera for a living. I don't respond to these sorts of videos so to me it just looks very strange.

Don't worry, it gets weirder the further into youtube you go apparently

Our generation has access to more entertainment than we could ever consume in a lifetime, and somehow this rises to the top. This is like the audio equivalent of those fuzzy felt books for babies. Imagine if in the far future, the only remnant of our civilisation is one of these ASMR videos. Despite all our efforts to appear dignified we are still drawn by our most primitive desires. I'm not entirely sure what I'm feeling right now but I don't think it's the intended effect.
#14
Best feeling ever. I've experienced "The Tingles of ASMR" since I was a little kid. It wasn't until a few years ago that I discovered what it was. People that don't experience it thing you're crazy.

I watch these vids every night.

Ear cupping has been giving me the most tingles lately

I totally understand you guys who find it weird but those who don't get the tingly sensation will watch these when having trouble falling asleep because these videos are boring.

ooohhh i like this thread

my favorite feeling and sound is boots crunching the fresh layer of snow in the winter
or walking on a trail path in the woods with crunchy leaves and gravel all over
ahhhhh even that sound/feeling in videogames/movies gives me the tingles

another feel good naturalistic sound/feeling is the light patter of rain when i'm trying to fall asleep
oh... glorious ...

This has been the best one so far. I don't get it from the tapping, but her whispering and the lotion/popping sounds mixed in triggers it

Mainly just the whispering

Had the idea for this thread after starting up on Infinite Jest; some of his writing with the myriads of details triggers it a bit.

The 'binaural' titled one reminds me of trying out the binaural beats thing w/ headphones for a while after reading some meta-analysis (for binaural beats) that it works for some. Interesting regardless.

Nah it's something plenty of people get a physical response from.

Which is why the people making these videos do what they do with a straight face. They actually enjoy ASMR themselves from other people and basically like to do their own for others and maybe even YouTube monieeeeees. Trust me they know how ridiculous it seems but hey it works for a lot of people.

I've watched a fair few hours of actual intended ASMR along with hours of Bob Ross and honestly, I can't get the actual tingles just from audio. Instead all it does is make me extremely relaxed. In order for me to get tingles I need to have audio along with physical touch. This is why I like going to the doctors and the dentist etc, the physical personal care is my trigger for the tingling response.

For me ASMR is all about relaxation. I've found that if a person is speaking to create the ASMR effect then it won't work for me if it's in English. Almost any other language is good though.

That said, when people start bringing up stuff like ear licking and eating sounds in ASMR I'm out. No idea how anyone can listen to or create that kind of content seriously.

Meditation comes in a lot of forms. I think this is just one. Where I think it crosses into this realm of 420 friendly enlightenment is when people start ascribing attributes to it other than what is really there. There's a lot of fake science surrounding it, not really in this thread, but this isn't my first experience with it or seeing it discussed.

I won't deny the effectiveness of meditation or placebos. ASMR is just another form of either. Where I get the "lol enlightened" thing from is the idea that people are being so deeply effected by their everyday sounds, like us sheeple are missing out on the symphony of innocuous noises.

Again, not so much of that in this thread, but my past experience with ASMR has been almost entirely compromised of hearing stoners talk about how great it is. Fat Lard isn't much of an example to make me disregard that experience.

Can't say I've ever heard anyone talk about ASMR beyond what it is. I mean people will say it's good for insomniacs but it is and that's not some pseudo magic, seems pretty safe to say it makes me among many other sleepy and relaxed.

I'm interested in hearing more about what people are saying though from what you're referring to.

But yeah there are plenty of people that are into pseudo practices like crystal and reiki healing which are into ASMR so I can see how people can get carried away with grand claims of whatever.

Maria from Gentle Whispering the woman in the OP does Russian videos, but you probably already know that since she's the biggest ASMRtist on YouTube...

One of my favourites is an Australian Greek woman who goes by Cutebunny992, she does both English and Greek videos.

There was also a girl on YouTube called Little Miss Squirrel who had a learn Estonian series which was sort of ASMR but not completely intentional IIRC.

When I was looking through youtube last night I found one called "unintelligible finnish whispering" or something. 1, you could make out what she was saying and 2. I had headphones on and it was mostly just fucking spit/mouth sounds. Ew

EDIT:

Got it. Put headphones on and listen.

Ephemeral Rift is the bomb.

Especially his Professor Clemmons and repairman characters.

Most of his other characters are far too creepy and weird to be relaxing though.
