I'm currently debating on purchasing the Gibson Flying V 120 or the ESP E-II FRX. The guitar would be primarily used to play metal (more specifically thrash, death, and groove.) I would also be interested in hearing what amp (preferably under 1k) you would combine with above guitars. Please keep in mind that I do not intend on playing any gigs with this setup, so the amp's ability to produce an ear-piercing amount of sound is far less critical. Thank you very much for taking the time to read over my question and for any advice you give.

Thanks again,
Mark

There's pretty little in common between those 2 guitars. The pickups between them are entirely different.

You're right, the two guitars are dissimilar. That said, I find myself enjoying the sound of them both equally. Assuming I could find the two guitars at around the same price, which would you go for?
