I'm going to sell my 2001 Fender American Series Stratocaster + hard-shell case, and I'm trying to determine a fair price.

I bought it new in 2002 for $880. It saw a few years of heavy use, but none in the last five years. It has a couple of dents in the body, but plays fine.

Here are the specs http://forums.fender.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=69252

It's a 3-color sunburst with a maple neck. Looks basically like this https://www.amazon.com/Fender-American-Standard-Stratocaster-Fingerboard/dp/B007PDS0L6/ref=sr_1_1/160-0048488-5663479?ie=UTF8&qid=1472594022&sr=8-1&keywords=Fender+American+Standard+Stratocaster+Sunburst

Thanks for your help!

It will sell for $500-$600 depending on condition.

To be real, depending on your location, you could easily ask 1000 and maybe even make your original investment back.

Here in Louisville Kentucky American strats are seldom found under 1k. And if they're under 800, they're normally gone within a day or two.

However down in Nashville Tennessee, similar spec'd Strats go for a few hundred cheaper

Edit: Actually found a few on my local CL that are in the 7 to 800 range. So maybe that may be more the mark to aim for

Here in Indiana used American Strats typically range from $799-$1000 give or take depending on condition, age etc.

If it is a 2002 and has dings and whatnot I would expect to get around 6-700 here. Starts are a dime a dozen around here (Ohio) and GC used has a lot of them around the 650-800 range. If you bought it new for $880 was it an american special or did you just get a great deal on it?

2002 that was what they went for 14 years ago. the special wasn't even around then.
