based on your description I would guess that they are elixir polywebs which have a thick white coating over the wound strings that protects them against corrosion and makes them feel very soft and silky - almost too slick for some peoples' tastes, but they do last a very long time.

Strings are very much a subjective thing though - there's not really "better" and "worse", just preference.
I like analogue Solid State amps that make no effort to be "tube-like", and I'm proud of it...

...A little too proud, to be honest.

bigj9988 bright white could also be DR neon strings. Elixers aren't soft imo but DR strings are. I used their strings for a while but their low strings always jumped way sharp when hit with any force. Even when playing open notes.

Elixers are great. I definitely recommend them as they sound good and last a long time, and they don't end up feeling scratchy on your frets.
