I have a soundcard that doesn`t have XLR inputs, but simply line inputs ( ESI maya 44 ).
How do I convert instrument signal to line signal? A DI box has an XLR out. Would a simple XLR - Jack cable work connecting the DI box to the line input on the soundcard?

get an interface, then pop over to the recording sub-forum and read the stickies there.

I keep calling it a soundcard, but its an interface. It has a microphone preamp and line inputs but no instrument ins. Also the microphone preamp uses a stereo jack instead of xlr. This interface gives me very low latency, down to 1,5ms so I don't want to buy a new one.

Ps. I'm good at DIY so I can build something... A jfet buffer?
