I got a new guitar a few months ago, and I was changing the strings for the first time yesterday and the action was so low it was touching the bottom half of the fretboard.

I adjusted the truss and bridge both and both helped a little bit, but it's still not playable
Could be a number of things. Does the guitar have a tremolo? Also be careful with the truss rod, that should be the LAST thing you should be adjusting on a new guitar. Adjustments should be made at the bridge - action, intonation, etc.
