The ultra generic metal riffs that all sound like variations on Avenged Sevenfold's "Unholy Confessions" (though I'm sure that's not the original source, either) which are played ad nauseam by every 21 year old, meth-head skinny, greasy black haired, fresh full sleeve tattoo having dipshit I see daily in this damn college town.

Come to think of it, I do know of at least one earlier example of that riff. From Death. Spirit Crusher. yeah, that's the one.
Guitars
Schecter Hellraiser C-1FR, C-1 Classic, Hellraiser Hybrid Solo-II, Special Edition E-1FR-S
Orange Rockerverb 50 212

Yamaha RBX374 and Washburn MB-6

Whenever I go to Guitar Center I can't say I hear any actual songs, though it's possible they're being mangled beyond recognition. Mostly I just hear really obnoxious amateur metal players cranking up the demo amps and failing at pinch harmonics.

It's always stupid generic blues or bad metalcore riffs.
There's no such thing; there never was. Where I am going you cannot follow me now.
