Let me be the first to say a hearty CONGRATULATIONS to Frankowillo for winning this guitar....

I find it very appropriate to see that the first major prize went to someone based on the principle UG was founded on
and what people actually come to UG for ...and that is for Frankowillo making and contrIbuting TABS of songs that
others can use, enjoy and benefit from ... without that principle and tabs being submitted, others couldn't have earned
any points at all simply commenting, approving, or rejecting them.

Congratulations Frank for winning this fabulous guitar. Very similar to the Epiphone John Lennon played (Casino) that was U.S. made. I believe George Harrison also played one at one time. You are in good company. Also, thanks are in order to UG....especially Zappp for starting this prize contest. Zappp, if you are reading this, please let us know what the future brings. Have you considered a "lottery"? In any event, this has been a very good thing!

Thanks Tom. Yeah, I was looking at early photos of John and George, and they both had similar arch-tops.

The one thing I would also like to know is what do the other 19 people receive as a prize as there was never any mention at all what they get....
I am very curious because all that EPIPHONE is known for is guitars...really nothing else..and the only other thing I see on their website are t-shirts....
So could you please let us know what the others will be receiving...thanks.

CONGRATS Frank a well deserved winner.

The funny thing is that Frank was legitimately caught cheating. He has been downloading MIDI files from the net, importing them into Guitar Pro, exporting them as .gp files, and uploading them. And because he is a Tab Moderator, there is no oversight of his submissions. Many of his .gp submissions are nearly unplayable as is and the scores nearly unreadable because of the way MIDI files import. So he is plagiarizing tabs and they are poor quality on top of it. Not to mention that Frank is genuinely one of the rudest posters on the site. Not surprising though since cheaters and thieves tend to not be the best people.

Chord charts copied from artists official webpages too

Admin have taken down a shit load of his guitar pro files, it seems, yet the IQ is still there

I knew that he was probably doing something hokey there as well, but wow. What's next? Scanning official tab books and lessons from guitar magazines and submitting them as PDF files?

What's next?

Ban and thus removal of mod status, removal of the shitty tabs and no "prize"

Pretty simple

Shouldn't that be a basic administrative power? It seems a bit lazy to me that this stuff is taken down, but the reward remains.

It didnt I guess it just took a bit of time to all go through. It's gone now, and the user has been rightfully banned

Does anyone know if it's a permanent ban or will he be back like last time?

Still laughing at this

So, I received my prize today: it's an Epiphone T-shirt. Thank you!
Sadly, it is WAY too large for me. If clothes are the prize, it would be nice to not just ask for the shipping address, but also for the size.
#27
Maguri, I agree 100%...

In the first contests with D'Addario I won 3 times and received strings that I can not use even after I was promised that I would
Receive the ones I asked for... Also received 3 tuners and 3 string winders... All still sit in a drawer in my house...

I also won a t shirt from EPIPHONE that I am sure will become a dust rag... As it will be way too large..

It may seem like I am complaining but I do appreciate the prizes .. As I will be giving them to people
Who can use them.

but it am in total agreement with you that with a company as big as EPIPHONE and all the shirts they have
and especially with the time it took for UG to have them shipped that they should have first asked every winner
What size they were and wanted ...

So the complaint isn't about the prizes themselves ... but if the prizes are just going to waste because of a simple
Question as to what size you are or what strings do you want... Then that needs to be addressed..

Again, I thank UG for what I received... And for offering prizes...

PLEASE UG TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION FROM NOW ON WHEN YOU HAVE A CONTEST THAT GIVES
OUT ITEMS TO BE WORN ... OR ITEMS USED ON A GUITAR SUCH AS STRINGS, ETC....

I also received an Epiphone T-shirt today and it's a great fit.
I really like it and I'm sure I will be wairing this shirt more often.
I do agree that it would be a good idea to ask for clothing sizes.

Man, you look great!
Too bad, I'm a dwarf. But I still can use mine as a tent or maybe better: I'll just give it to some big friend as a present and put a smile on some guitarist's face.

Thanks
It might be because I'm dutch. An L size is pretty normal here.

So today after waiting about an hour in customs office I received my guitar. I only played it for an hour but so far I'm really liking it Sounds great on clean (probably the best guitar in my collection if it comes to clean). And if you give some gain you can have a really nice sound for blues, rock and roll or hard rock. Big thanks to UG & Epiphone for sending me it and the people who voted for my tabs during competition. It's really great award. And I promise to not use Metal Zone with it XD

#33
Meanwhile, I received my second T-shirt; again too big. They don't have them in S, I suppose.
Still, I hoped that maybe the second one would be a fit. I already gave the first one away as a present. So this one will go too.

My t-shirt arrived today,Thank you so much for it . But it is to big for me i am 12 yr old :P it is even to big for my 21 yr old brother :P so it is a good idea to ask for size.
#35
Finally arrived, it's about 2 size bigger, than I need
Frankly speaking, this contest isn't worth the effort.

Agree, even though it may sound harsh - it's a present after all and we could just have not contributed for the time of the contest in order to avoid getting it.

Still, these "The winner takes it all" contests do not make much sense to me, as the difference between first prize and the rest is way too big.

To make things clear, I don't have any problems with it, it's just a matter of fact, that better not to have any contest, than have it on a way, that Epiphone did it. It's only my opinion, I'll submit tabs regardless any contests.

Not contributing because of a contest was of course a joke ...
