Heya,

I broke the corner off my Epi G-400 SG nut.

I want to get a new one. Any ideas on types of material and a good place to buy online? I looked on ebay but they all look like Chinese crap.

The standard width is 1.68 according to epis website.

I play alot of down tuned rock of that makes ant difference to material at all.

Cheers, Mac

i would check out stewmac for blanks/precut.

ideally you would have one cut to fit your guitar by a tech. i like bone or some of the other synthetic materials out there. not cheap, but it will be worth it if done properly.

or you can measure best you can and try to file it a little bit yourself or just live with it.

Tusq? Heard good things about them, self lubricating as well.

Tusq was the synthetic material i was referring too.

graphite is another option. i would just go tusq though. or bone.

i like bone because i have the satisfaction of knowing that i have something on my guitar that lived and died and what is more metal than that?

Great, now I need to order a small piece of mammoth bone off of eBay and get it made into a guitar nut. Then truly pay homage to Mastodon with my Flying V haha
