Second year software engineering student here,

Next semester I'll have to do a "technical project". Essentially I have 4 months to do some cool shit and I was looking for some ideas. My current thoughts were making a synth or some sort of guitar pedal. Thing is, it has to be related to software engineering so if you guys had some suggestions of music-related things that would require some sort of programming I'd be totally open to hearing them. Also, if you guys have done something like this before and would let me know how long it would take and what sort of material / skills that'd be great. Keep in mind I have about 4 months which is roughly 150 hours I'd be willing to put into the design, construction, and documentation of whatever it is I'm doing.

Thanks!

there is some other options dealing with programming.

it is similar to making a vst, but it is a total self contained testing platform for programming dsp, and it's pretty cheap.
punk isn't dead, it's always smelled that way.
