Anyone have advice for this? I've spent the past 2-3 years mastering metal rhythm guitar techniques. I can pretty much learn to play any metal song you put in front of me within a day (rhythm wise, my leads suck still) but lately I've been getting more interested in writing original material. It's pretty discouraging when i have all the skills I need but I can't seem to write any good riffs with them. I have so much inspiration to draw from, but everything comes out mediocre. It's like I have a constant writers block that I can't shake no matter what I try. Any help is appreciated

Honestly, just keep at it. At first it will take you a couple of hours to write some material but it will take less time as you gain experience. Just keep at it.
