I've been playing for a couple of years now, and i really would like to get more well versed with some guitar effects.
I have one pedal which really burned a hole in my pocket.
I've heard about people building their own pedals from scratch and I've been salvaging electronic components to hopefully build my own. Even if I don't have the exact components, I can always get them from my local electronics store, which would still be a lot cheaper than buying a pedal.
There are some great sites out there with the exact layouts of the pedals I'd like to build, namely http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.my/ but I'm not exactly sure how to get started.
I have basic knowledge on electronics and know how to solder but honestly everything seems a little overwhelming .

So, if you're good with building pedals, do you have any advice about the process? and what are some simple beginner diy pedals? Thanks.

You could start out with a kit from http://www.mojotone.com/. See how that goes, then get more advanced from there. After youre comfortable building the kits, you can start modifying them and eventually creating your own schematic altogether.
