So I'm looking at buying a beginner guitar recording setup to write some songs at home, and I need some way to mix songs (obviously), so I was wondering what you guys think is the better buy.

Should I go with this:

Or something like one of these:

Monitors are always better than headphones unless you have to do quiet sessions at home.

Personally, I'd go with the Alesis in this price range. The Akai is an interesting concept but you'll be limited by the USB drivers and you never know how that tech will fare down the line, therefore I won't touch these. The other two monitors in this range are just too toylike.

If you can swing M-Audio Bx5 pair (about $200) it will be much better due to the bigger speakers and better response.

You'll also need an audio interface.
