Amazing that Trump won the election. As P.T. Barnum said, "nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people". My apologies, in advance, for the havoc that America is about to unleash in the upcoming future. My 401K already took a good sized shit yesterday.

I realized that from a pragmatic perspective that the election of Trump is a disaster for America (and the world). Obviously I have to look at this from a PERSONAL perspective. Here are the "good things" about Trump's stated beliefs as relates to me.

1. I'm a hetero white male. So Trump goes after Mexicans, starts breaking up families kicking them out of the country. Doesn't affect me whatsoever. That's what happens when you don't bother voting, Mexicans. (For the record: I don't think Trump will do anything. He's 100% hypocrite on the issue of illegal labor/immigration).

2. I'm agnostic. So if Trump comes down on Muslims in the USA....so what? I heartily dislike Islam anyway, probably more than any of the other religions (due to it's regressive aspects).

3. I'm a hetero white male (again). I'm never going to benefit from an abortion. So half the population is now faced with the prospect of back alley abortions if they are raped...it doesn't affect ME.

4. I'm financially stable. My house is paid off. I don't have many needs. I could survive off $300 a month if I had too. God help those less fortunate than me.

5. Perhaps I'll personally benefit from Trump's huge tax giveaways somehow. Maybe he'll spark a tiny bit of industrial development in New Mexico and I'll get a job there as a Plant Manager?

So, from a purely selfish "me" perspective...this election is far from "bad" for me, assuming Trump doesn't get us all killed or completely tank the economy.

Why would you be surprised by reality TV politics + populism + a disenfranchised population leading to someone like Trump getting in? It's so neat and clear that it almost plays out like a chemical reaction.

It's like when the Brits say they're surprised by Brexit: euroskepticism, and all else that brought it about has been around for decades. The disenfranchisement and want for change no matter what it is, appeal for people who appear "alternative" and not part of an inbred political elite, long standing political discomfort, a female candidate who is related to an ex-president, etc - you can insult me if you feel the need to do that, but the signs are and were all there in flashing neon lights.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I've enjoyed seeing people have social media meltdowns. The attention whores who film themselves crying and threatening self harm because they're so scared of Trump are the best. You'd think the whole world was ending or something.

Apart from that, I am not effected in any way.
I have nothing important to say

Absolutely

I can appreciate those who are likely to be targets of the plebs' power frenzy being extremely scared right now, but a lot of folks on my feed are, well, not minorities or targets of any of that shit, and are just devastated at how many people disagree with them. Hamlet was less dramatic.

Trump has already made plans to redo the Chinese trade agreement.

If he pulls US support out of Taiwan China will almost certainly annexe it again. And reclaim the South China Sea islands, causing instability in Taiwan and the Philippines.

because every projection showed clinton securely winning. and i don't go out among the proles. it's not that "someone like trump" couldn't win. it's that it looked like he wasn't going to.

Shit, Huffington Post had Hillary pegged at 98%. There were a couple polls near the end that showed Trump up by 1-2%, but the other dozens of polls all had Hillary.

Something about this whole election smells funny to me, still. I noticed that Putin sent heartfelt congratulations to Trump.

Wow, you mean the mainstream media isn't as reputable as the less-than-half of the people thought, and the media have lost most of their credibility trying to shill results with their weaker meme magic?

Also, check your pms

Question.
I have blue eyes but I don't have blonde hair.
Will I be murdered like the rest of the nonwhites or am I white enough to sit at the buffet of life that Trump clearly promised for only white people???

Also. Will white Hillary supporters be pardoned for joining the Nation of Islam or do they get punished?

"I'm fine cos I'm a straight white man"

Oh the short sightedness of fascists (not saying you personally are op) on thinking they are immune from the boot because they're in the in crowd. What happens when all the Mexicans and Muslims are gone? The fascists in power need a new scapegoat, and once that scapegoat is dealt with they invent a new one. Better toe the line and get buddy buddy with whomevers in charge, lest you get painted as a sympathiser

Reality Check:

1981 - Ronald Reagan / George H.W. Bush
1984 - Ronald Reagan / George H.W. Bush
1989 - George H.W. Bush / Dan Quayle
1992 - William Clinton / Al Gore
1996 - William Clinton / Al Gore
2001 - George W. Bush / Dick Cheney
2004 - George W. Bush / Dick Cheney
2008 - Barack Obama / Joe Biden
2012 - Barack Obama / Joe Biden

Any kind of Trend sticking out to anyone?

And now people are bitching because 2016 doesn't have Hillary Clinton listed as the winner?

Am I the only person who thinks its f*cking ludicrous to essentially have two political families controlling the country for the better part of 40 years? Granted Obama was President for two terms, but during that time Hillary served as both Senator and Secretary of State. She was intimately connected to the White House during the better part of the Obama Presidency.

How about we elect someone who doesn't have the last name Bush or Clinton for a change? How about we put someone in the White House that isn't politically connected with someone with the last name Bush or Clinton for a change?

Oh, wait. We just did.
