The best thing is YouTube's automatic close captioning thinks it's Portuguese, and the translation is hilarious.
For example for "look at you you mad junkie bastard" gets CC'd as "zelaya was ousted in a coup in the face".

A bit complex, there's no US analogue.

It came about from the failing Liberal party during the 1940's-50's (might even be earlier) after WW2 where workers rights and unions started to be taken more seriously. It really was meant to be a 'party for the people' representing workers and left-leaning everyday people, where as the Liberal party (which eventually morphed into the Liberal Democrats) was left but a bit too stuffy and upperclass.

Became a bit of a mess: After being mashed about during the 80's and early 90's, Blair injected some good ol' sneaky neo-lib/Thatcherism so it mutated it's internal core as a peoples party to more of a 'not quite as right as the conservatives' sort of thing.

Now, most people who identify with the party would like it to return to the pre-Blair days, hence why everyone goes crazy for Jeremy Corbyn, cuz he's from a more 'classically liberal' background.

Corbyn is a democratic socialist. Labour as a whole is a socially progressive neoliberal party.

Kind of a soft socialism.

Government influence/control on economy, redistribution of wealth, a focus on improving government services and workers rights. For instance, the NHS is a Labour creation.

It's changed a bit so there's some more free market stuff in there now, but you'll find all sorts of left-leaning people across the spectrum identify with some part of it. Still has a bit of a fling with the unions but it was meant to originally be fully representative of unions.
