Hi, i recently got hold of aTtaylor GS Mini in Koa and i was thinking about uping the string gauge to 14-59 - would it be okay for standard tuning?

i know i would nee to adjust the truss rod but would it be un playable? would i have to tune half a step down?

Since the mini scale is over one fret shorter than a standard scale it should be OK, but I would ask on a Taylor forum. At least with Taylor, if it deforms the body a bit, you can easily adjust the neck to compensate. However, you might find that heavy strings choke the sound on that kind of guitar - For example, I use 13s on all my (big) acoustics except my old L-00, on which 12s are better.

You might also have to alter the nut slots.
