I'll need to travel for work and want to practice in the hotel room. I figure I'll bring one of my guitars but what "amp"? I'll just play through headphones and it will need to be something exceptionally portable. It needs to sound good enough to be inspiring but doesn't need to be great in terms of tone. Playing to backing tracks might be nice too. What are some options?
I used one of these with a pair of headphones when I was on work travel for several months:
Hm. Interesting. I actually remembered that I have a Line 6 Pocket Pod. Somewhere. I think. I suppose that could work and fit in a gig bag. I'd guess there are similar things around these days that are better. I read a comment about Bias for iPad. Maybe something like that? I'll look into it.
i used one of these with my computer when i was on the road
Thanks. I'm looking into Positive Grid's JamUp app seems about right. I have an iPad mini so that could work.
An Instrument to USB cable and Peavey ReValver (free has the ValveKing or listen to a tone).
Try a portable digital modeler. Line 6 PODs, Korg Px4/Px5/Pandora series, Boss Micro series, Tascam GT-R1, etc.- all good options.
Thanks guys. I will try to find my Pocket Pod. I also went ahead and grabbed the BIAS FX app for iPad and a few of the add on packs. Seemed decent for about $30. I'll have to get one of the iRig things or similar.
