Hi, now I'm using 0.009 strings and when I play songs with FACGCE tuning (low to high), I tune to EG#BF#BD# and put a capo on first fret because I don't want to buy 0.008. Can I calibrate my guitar to afford 0.010 strings and then put 0.009 on the 6th and 2nd strings to tune up to F and C?
You can absolutely mix and match strings from differently sized sets without much of a problem. You want to make sure that your string tension is relatively normal and there are calculators for that (http://www.stringtensionpro.com/, shoot for between 14 and 18 lbs for each string). You may also have to adjust the intonation for your new strings, but your neck tension will probably be fine.
