Hi there. I just bought a used traynor ycv80 and when I checked 2 out of the 4 power tubes are not glowing. This is my first time owning a tube amp so I dont know which path to take. What can you guys recommend for a power tube that I can replace it with? Should I replace it myself or ask a tech to do it? It sounds alright to me. When on overdrive it sounds a little bit muddy. Thanks for all the replies.

Not all power tubes glow when they are working.

Do you know how to re-bias as amp? If not, then take it to a tech. There are voltages in an amp that can kill you if you don't know what you're doing.

Unless you have it cranked really loud then most of the tone and distortion is coming from the preamp tubes, not the power tubes.

Ohhh, I didn't know that. I really don't know much about tube amps to be honest. But I talked to a tech, and he said he'll do a free assessment. Hopefully it's not too expensive.
