Hi everyone!

I'm in the market for a semi-hollow body guitar. My budget is around 1000€. Do you maybe have any other brands or models I could look into other than the stereotypical ES-335 by Gibson?

The John Scofield signature by Ibanez, which I already tried out, seems to be a really nice guitar.

Any recommendations are helpful!

Cheers!

Eastman guitars have some good semi-hollows in that price range, from what I've tried. The issue I had with the one I tried as hopefully just an odd setup, but the action was definitely too low to take any sort of advantage that could have been had from the semi-hollow construction.

Behind them my next rec would be Gretsch.

Your search will be defined by what you're looking for, though, not just the bodytype. There are a wide variety of semi-hollows out there, and the pickups that Gretsch typically uses may not suit your style.

There's the PRS SE Custom 22 Semi Hollow, the Reverend Club King and many more. Can you tell us more about what you want?

Definitely pretty (love their headstocks), but I can't get behind those style pickups on a semihollow

I usually just want a nice all-rounder. Nothing too rockabilly and stuff. In the moment I'm mostly just a songwriter. My songs usually lean towards the Ziggy era Bowie stuff. Just searching for a guitar which could do stuff like that with a nice Woody and warm sound. I already own a les Paul but play it with my band in C standard tuning, so I can't use that.

Most of their nicer stuff is fully hollow, but Epiphone has the Sheraton, which is similar to the ES-3x5s, but (I would say) prettier. Also the Casino, which is semihollow size but actually hollow, and usually features P-90s.
