Hey and thanks for looking,

I used to play in a hardcore/deathcore band about 4 years ago and my set up then was my PRS SE 22 with a emg 81 in the bridge going to a tube screamer straight into a duel rectifier with a orange 2x12. Well time went on and i sold rectifier and got a tiny terror because i went from jamming and performing to just bedroom playing. The problem is now the guys want to get back together but my tiny terror can't seem to get the same levels of distortion and heavyness my rect did back in the day. Gear has never been a strong point for me but idk what to do. I was looking at the mini rect. but the drop a 1000$ for one sound seems a bit much. What i really am asking is how can i produce such a sound which the tiny terror or should i sell it and get another head?

I would go for a different. I would try to keep the TT though. they are fun little bastards.

You could pick up a 6505 for under $600 on the used market. you also can pick up a mesa single or dual in range easily in budget too.

I would have a hard time recommending that pedal period, much less than his situation.

thanks guys the replies guys the 6505 is a great option.

Just a side note , i have been using my UX1 for hardcore tones while i figure my situation out. This setup is quite ghetto in my opinion but the quality of the tone isn't that bad. So its my PRS to the UXI to the tiny terror to the 2x12.

fact of the matter is that the tiny terror isn't tailored to the tone/volume you need. having said that, I have a dual terror and love it.,but for death core, it won't handle it.

a used 6505/mesa rec will do the job in spades.

(i do own a 5150 block letter, a Tremoverb and another dozen high gain amps).

A 6505 would definitely do the job, it's not as versatile as your Mesa was though but for me the 6505 is a much faster route to a great metal sound, and more to my liking.

Why do you specify that it's a block letter? Other than being more rare and the minor cosmetic difference they are in every way identical to the 5150/6505, apart from perhaps the valves it came shipped with, I don't know what Peavey ship these days but I recall Electro Harmonix with the sig 5150s and then Ruby later with the 6505s.

Mine is bias modded with JJs and running only 60w (2 valves pulled) and gathering dust since I bought my Cornford. But to be back on the point, the Block Letter Signature and 6505 are all the same identical amp, from an objective point of view so I don't understand why you mentioned it.

pollolighter - you still have the 2x12? You can run the Orange TT with speaker out to that cab, then just try some kind of overdrive in front to boost it. The Marshall Guvnor would work in that situation best, at least from what I have. Boss SD-1 might also do it.

I have JJ's in mine too. I am pretty sure that there are component differences (not necessarily ftom a value perspective). I have had a 6505 and a 6505+ from the last few years. i like the 5150.

mine is sitting on a mesa mkiv collecting dust. my Rockerverb get the most of the action these days. and my splawns
