Just bought a brand new ibanez rg421. Does the gap at the end of the neck on the pickup side normal?

It may be a cantilevered or extended fretboard. IOW, the neck pocket ends but the fretboard is extended right up to the edge of the pickup ring. There are necks from Warmoth for specific guitars that will give you a full 24 frets (as the Ibanez has) on guitars that would normally have just 21 or 22.
