Be careful on the sidewalk
Make sure you look both ways before you cross
I don't mean to scare you
You can see the monsters lined up around the block
Almost too old to be here
I'll take off my disguise come ninth grade fall
One last walk around
Take all that I can, one last mighty haul

But the lights have all gone down
And there's no one waiting up
The creatures of the night have all gone home

Eight years later, twenty-two
Suddenly you're not so hellbent, bulletproof
You're nowhere bound and drowning
So you carve a crooked smile to hide the bruise

The lights have all gone down
There's no one waiting up
The creatures of the night have all gone hone

Last Halloween
No children came around
The monsters that we made have grown too old

So turn the lights down low
There's no sense in staying up
The creatures of the night have all left home

Be careful on the sidewalk
Make sure you look both ways before you cross
I don't mean to scare you
You can see the monsters lined up around the block
Almost too old to be here
I'll take off my disguise come ninth grade fall I did the math and found out you're 14 maybe, I guess it's to show the point later that you're too old for dress up now
One last walk around
Take all that I can, one last mighty haul why stop at 14?

But the lights have all gone down
And there's no one waiting up
The creatures of the night have all gone home so I don't really get this, is this because of your last trip out on Halloween and you're seeing it shut down even for your adult self?

Eight years later, twenty-two
Suddenly you're not so hellbent, bulletproof suddenly? Because 21 was a hell bent age?
You're nowhere bound and drowning
So you carve a crooked smile to hide the bruise bruise from a bad Halloween experience? I like crooked smile in the theme here

The lights have all gone down
There's no one waiting up
The creatures of the night have all gone hone home?

Last Halloween
No children came around
The monsters that we made have grown too old see if like these two strophe chorus yeh?

So turn the lights down low
There's no sense in staying up
The creatures of the night have all left home
but I think this last strophe should be a straight repeat, I think the subtle changes only confuse the issue, they've gone home or left there home? It seems like they're leaving their home from the younger perspective to go out at night, and going home to close.

Not sure this helps but good luck, holiday themes are a fun challenge
