I apologize to the mods of the forum if I posted this in the wrong sub-forum,

I was hoping to get some basic help on how to get a good tone for electric guitar.
What are the steps to getting there? Because currently I'm just randomly moving the knobs on software pedals and amps, I have no idea what I'm doing.

I'm trying to get a good leads tone (maybe something similar to Paul Wardingham and Angel Vivaldi?). The random tone I'm currently using sounds very scratchy on the higher strings (the b and e strings, if in standard tuning). The more bass-y strings (EAD) sound fine, or somewhat okay..

If any help or advice can be offered, thanks I appreciate it
