Hi all

I am trying to analyse a piece of music in drop C but have no idea how to go about transposing what I know about basic guitar theory (I know very little but am learning slowly) to the drop C piece. I really just want to figure out what scales everything are in so that I can write with it.

Thanks all

Everything in drop C sounds a whole step lower than in standard tuning, except for the 6th string that is two whole steps lower than the 6th string in standard.

What this means is that if you play in drop C and want to play the same pitches as a guitar tuned in standard, you need to play everything a whole step (2 frets) higher, and everything on the 6th string two steps (4 frets) higher.

Then again, if you are trying to figure out how to play a drop C piece in standard tuning, you need to play everything a whole step lower, and everything on the 6th string two steps lower.

Drop C is just drop D tuned a whole step down.

Just remember that there are no boring scales, just boring players.
