Hi guys,

I'm having a problem recording bass into logic x.
Nothing is clipping, the bass has been tested passive and active but still there is horrible distortion that ruins the tone of the bass. I've tried everything like changing the bit rate but nothing has worked. How can I clean this up?!

Thanks

You're probably clipping the input on this one, the Scarlett is notorious for having problems with guitar and bass coming in too hot.
Do you have another sound source you can try, like a mic?
Usually the fix to the input clipping is getting a DI, there are some budget options, like Whirlind or Radial ProDI if you can afford it. You can also try the Sansamp Bass Driver DI which is fantastic and will probably augment your bass tone regardless of how you record.

I know I'm saying I've tried a passive bass too and my active has a fresh battery. I'll see if that helps thanks

^gotcha. If nothing else cheap DI box, Behringer, or similar should do. I've always had problem with some people hocking these Scarlett interfaces like they're the Holy Grail to unsuspecting musos who discover issues like these later on.
