So are you trying to write a chord progression behind the "sweep riff" or are you trying to write something that follows the "sweep riff" but has different notes in it?

It could help if we could hear your idea.

Just remember that there are no boring scales, just boring players.

Sounds like the latter.

If you're sweep picking arpeggios then that's really easy; just harmonise using the next note in the arpeggio.
e.g. if you play a Dm arpeggio - D F A D, harmony line would be F A D F.
It switches between harmonising in 3rds and 4ths.

A harmony going up to the next note in the arpeggios would be :
D|---------------19--24--19---------------|
A|-----------20--------------20-----------|
F|-------21----------------------21-------|
C|----------------------------------------|
G|----------------------------------------|
C|----------------------------------------|

D|---------------17--22--17------------------|
A|-----------19--------------19------19------|
F|-------19----------------------19----------|
C|-------------------------------------------|
G|-------------------------------------------|
C|-------------------------------------------|
but that does go pretty high so you may want to make the harmony a note below :
D|---------------12--15--12---------------|
A|-----------12--------------12-----------|
F|-------12----------------------12-------|
C|----------------------------------------|
G|----------------------------------------|
C|----------------------------------------|

D|---------------10--14--10------------------|
A|-----------10--------------10------10------|
F|-------11----------------------11----------|
C|-------------------------------------------|
G|-------------------------------------------|
C|-------------------------------------------|
