The Fender with its fancy (assuming the fancy is real wood) laminated hardwood top might sound like a cigar box with strings. I would avoid it like the plague. The 310 has a laminated top, but it is made from softwood, and the ones I've tried have sounded very good.

However, if you can try them, trust your ears.

I think the Jamaha has a warmer tone thanks to the soft wood top like you said
The Fender has a more bright tone, but I like the sharpness of it, when I hear the sound in the reviews on youtube that is
