I was wondering if it would be worth it to add a acoustic pickup to an electric guitar (Ibanez RG350QMZ)
Much like the  Music Man John Petrucci Majesty Monarchy. Albeit that has the PUs in the saddles of the bridge, in my case it'd be else where.

How much of a terrible idea is this?

I have the Epiphone Les Paul Ultra with the acoustic NanoMag pickup in the neck. It's an unusual sound but doesn't really sound like an acoustic guitar. You do get a sense a sense of acoustic overtones and when the NanoMag is off it's a nice light weight relief-ed Les Paul (mine weighs about 7.5 lbs.) It does have a traditional Les Paul sound. It's cool in it's own way by mixing the pickups. Good luck.

I just got a Carvin/Kiesel TL60 with it ( bought used ) ..... I already have an Acoustic amp , can rock hard with my Dual Recto then finish with a Acoustic amp and sound with  turn of a blend  knob , mine has separate outputs to play both in stereo or turn the blend knob which ever direction the song takes , it's fricken sweet
