frozen food manager at a grocery store

its a pretty sweet deal actually. days arent boring and slow, department managers get free lunches on fridays, and i get time and a half every sunday. working 48 hours a week can be kind of tiring depending on how busy my other two bands are but thats w/e

plus i really like the cold and being in a freezer instead of bullshit ass summer is a huge plus

I work security at a hospital, its alright I guess. Most of my coworkers are cool peeps. I hate everyone else though. I'm convinced you have to have an overinflated sense of self to work in medicine.

Product Training Specialist for a leading loudspeaker manufacturer. It's pretty coo'. I travel around the Asian Pacific doing product presentations to the media, dealers, guests from outside the industry, the public etc, and train dealerships and business partners on our products. I've spent the last two months building up playlist upon playlist of music and films for audiophiles, music lovers, film buffs, ones to wow the general public... essentially I've been sitting in a room with over £350,000 worth of surround sound and stereo equipment for that time.

Couple months ago i took a big risk and quit my job for various reasons. After a relaxing month of funemployment i took a leap and dove head first into the world of carpentry. So that's what i do, and im 10,000x happier than my old job. Fuck that job. I actually really love what im doing now.

Same. I mostly hate it but I'm on a computer 8+ hours a day so forums like this keep me sane.

I'm a special education aide in a kindergarten classroom. How much I like it depends on what kind of class and what teacher I'm working with. In any case, it pays the bills, and it's good to know I'm helping people who need help.

Electrician. Overall, I like it. It's like everything else, some good days, some bad days. All depends on the depth of the bad day and frequency. I don't have bad days often, make ok money, work close to home, get to experience the fulfillment of building stuff. But at 47 with a 6 year old, I'm tired at the end of the day.

Edit isn't working right now, so I'll elaborate: I lead frozen and dairy and enjoy it. I get to call the shots when necessary, so there's the ego boost. Overall, yeah, it's retail, but it's something to do and has a way up, so unless some freak accident happens where I'm famous, I'm not going to quit.

honestly retail isnt even that bad if youre the type of employee to not fuck around and actually take the job seriously

i went from cashier working their firs job at minimum wage to department manager with full benefits in only two and a half years

dealing with customers is kind of shit but thats what people that work under you are for

plus the guy that trained me (used to be frozen manager but then he moved to dairy brews his own beer and his wife buys us coffee and donuts

I've been there for awhile and am gearing into official management. It's slow, but unless some really sweet deal comes along, I'm not willing to jump ship. I also have experience in inventory control, so I do that when the opportunity arises. My biggest challenge is leading a team, which I am developing and am in a program to assist me in the company. Within 2 years (hopefully less) I'll be an official manager. I'll only be Bill Lumburg to shitty employees. Most of the kids we've hired in bust their ass, so either the millennials aren't that shitty, or I've just have good luck.

let me ask you about something an old boss wanted me to do once and tell me if you think it's a terrible idea.

take two whole pallets of frozen food/ice cream out to the sales floor at once, throw the boxes up and down the aisles, and have 3 people try and get it all into the freezers/properly backstocked before it melts.

oh yes. jake is still complaining about a job he quit over a year ago. 8^)

10-11AM at my store. I've worked all shifts, so I have a good idea of what goes on in each. I don't like passing the buck when I know how it fucks up everyone else. About half my time has been on 3rds, but with a family, I'm glad I'm not on there because kids don't care what time it is.

For the past few months I've worked as a research assistant in a public health institute. Working on six studies at the moment. Occasionally work on grants and program evaluation. At the end of the summer I'll go back to doing research in the psych department and teaching-related work as well.

I enjoy it most if the time. Sometimes a little too stress-inducing but never boring.

I'm a multi hat manager at an offsite surface mine.

IE: we strip mine in Northern Washington near Canadian border and ship it to a plant in Portland, OR, where we create foundry grade casting sand out of it.

I used to be a pipeline inspector in Louisiana, and before that, worked at a saw mill.  I came to this position as the safety manager, and then became the facility and operations manager.

I am a wage slave.  It's a love/hate relationship.  I wish I was fishing in Louisiana and working on crew boats instead.

I'm a research assistant at a language development lab at my school. I specialize in bilingualism but I'm happy to work on whatever cuz kids' brains are just so fascinating. So are adult brains for that matter. I also work at a speech clinic.

Nice! I did that for 5 months while the regular aide was on maternity leave. Kindergarten isn't my favorite age group to work with but seeing the kids' progress (and also just being kids) made up for it.

Kindergartners can certainly be a pain, but they're generally less malicious than older kids. A 12-year-old will ruin your day on purpose.
